7 June 2006 - Commissioner publishes 2005 Annual Report
Data Protection Commissioner, Emma Martins today published her second Annual Report detailing the activities and developments of the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner during 2005. The report highlights the extensive work carried about by the department in preparation for the implementation of the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005, including the development of a new website and on-line notification system.
The new website has seen a dramatic increase in visitors in comparison to the old site, averaging 6000 visits a month as opposed to 2000 a month under the old regime. The month of December 2005 saw a total visitor count of 5163. Deputy Commissioner, Paul Vane said, "We are extremely proud of the new site and the vast increase in visitors is indicative of the growing awareness of data protection issues across the Island as well as beyond our own shores."
